Frequently Asked Question
As we have begun rolling out more and more Microsoft Surface Laptops to our users, we have noticed a trend with the docking stations. They seem to be more power sensitive. We have also noticed this with Dell Lattitude Laptops with the USB-C/Thunderbolt connections as well.
What we mean by that is any slight flux in the voltage supplied to the docking stations at the desktop. It seems to cause the docking station to stop supplying a charge to the laptops. The laptops will stay on and function, but will not be charged.
If you notice this, the solution is simple. All you need to do is to remove the power plug from the docking station for 30 seconds, them plug it back in.
Most users report this behavior after a storm or a power event.
